I am from the Toronto area, so I took the train in the day before and stayed at the Chrome Hotel up the street which was within walking distance to the consulate. My appointment was for 10am, but I arrived about 15-20 minutes early. There were no lineups at all. I got through security with no problems (I didn't bring anything with me except all my paperwork in a couple file folders). When I got to the 19th floor, I waited about 5-10 minutes before they called my number (#21). The lady at the first window was really nice. I was worried I wouldn't have enough financial info for my fiancee and co-sponsor (his sister), but I had no problems (I brought his last 3 pay stubs, a letter from his current employer, a letter from his bank and all the bank statements for the last few months since he opened an account there. For his sister, I brought a letter from her employer, her 2016 W2, a letter from her bank and a years worth of bank statements). I was a little worried when I was asked if I had proof his sister was a US citizen (a copy of her passport or birth certificate), but it didn't seem to be an issue when I said no. After being finger printed, I sat back down for about 10 minutes before being called up to the next window for my interview. After giving the oath, the first question I had was "tell me about your relationship". I was asked what my fiancee did for a living, about his criminal record, if I had a criminal record, if I had ever been in the USA for more than 6 months, if I had ever had trouble crossing the border, when the last time we saw each other was and asked to describe our last visit. The officer who interviewed me was nice, but didn't even crack a smile until she told me I was approved. I must have had the biggest look of relief on my face! I honestly can't even remember what I was told after I heard the word "Approved". All in all, I was out of the appointment, made a stop at Starbucks and was back in my hotel room by 10:40am.
