I had my interview this morning at 8am. I live about 6 hours from Montreal so I drove there after work on the 16th. Just a note for anyone who might be driving; the 720 is under heavy construction which caused me about an hour delay in horrendous stop and go traffic. I recommend not driving a standard should you have to endure this...my left leg is still sore! The next morning I left from my airbnb on park avenue quite early so I of course had to do the customary stop in at Starbucks and got myself a toasted coconut cold brew (oh god so good, highly recommend, and the barista was incredibly friendly even though my french is horrendous). Headed over to the consulate with nothing but my wallet and my folder of documents at 7:40am and was let in after easily passing through the security.

I was given my laminated sheet with the list of documents they would ask me for and sent downstairs to wait. There were definitely some things on it that were not on the P4 checklist but I knew to bring because of this forum (notably the copies of my passport, birth certificate, and proof of payment). As soon as I looked at it I felt my heart sink because I 100% printed off scanned copies of my passport and birth certificate but 100% left them in the printer like the smart cookie I am...so I did not have those with me. Eventually we were called in to the elevator to head up to the 19th floor. There was nobody else waiting aside from myself and another girl. I waited about 10 minutes before being called up to process my documents. She asked me his name, address, and phone number, then asked for my passport, two photos, police check, long form birth certificate (I only had short form and that was okay) proof of payment, the I-134 and his most recent tax forms (asked for W2's but I had transcripts which she accepted), a copy of his passport, my medical, and then I was fingerprinted. Because I did not have copies of my passport and birth certificate I had to pay for them ($1USD each) which was no big deal. Then I was asked to take a seat until called up again.

I waited maybe 15 minutes max and was called up to window 8 and greeted by a friendly woman. She asked me how we met, when we met, when we realized that we 100% wanted to get married, when we were engaged, have I met his family, and why I go there more often than he would come to Canada. I was freaked out because I felt like she thought it was suspicious how quickly we were engaged after meeting in person (met in person in March, engaged in December, but knew each other for 2 years prior). Then she asked me what my favourite thing about him is. Then she said "alright you're all done" and explained the papers she was handing to me. I walked out of the interview panicking because she never used the word "approved", but I was so flustered I didn't notice until I was back at my airbnb that she gave me the "Welcome To The United States of America" paper and a paper explaining how I will receive my visa..lol. So I think it went well?

Anyway! All in all I was in and out and picking up 2 dozen Montreal bagels to bring home within an hour.
