Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | Review on March 13, 2017: | Michelyne

Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Our interview took place in Rio on march 7th at 8:20am. Chris and I arrived around 8am (Yes, Chris came cause he wanted to be present in every step of this process with me and I loved it cause it kept me calmed) we told the security guard (wearing a blue and black uniform) that we were there for a K1 interview and he immediately called a girl from the inside to check our paperwork and allow us in. Inside we placed our backpack at the XRay machine and went thru those metal detector just like we usually do at the airports (Its not allowed eletronics so don't bring them but if in case you can't leave it there are some people that hold them to you outside (not an embassy service) they charge for the service and if I am not too wrong it's something aroun R$10,00 per item). The K1 interview in Rio happens at the secong floor so after a few steps we saw a guys wearing a red uniform (I was so happy thinking that was the famous Alex but to my surprise Alex on that day was working at the tourist visa area so Leandro was the one that gave us the instructions instead). He gave me a paper to put my infos such as address where I was staying in Rio, my address in Brazil, my address to be in the US, Chris and my email and a checklist paper to place our paperwork exactly like it was showing after we finished he just double checked and told us to wait at the first row. We barely sat there and we heard NNNEXXXTTT...omg I felt my heart skip a beat ..but it was only a very polite Brazilian Lady calling to get my finger prints and check our paperwork once again. I noticed at this time that she grabbed a huge pink file added the I134 form into it all Chris's stuffs(bank statments, W2,Tax returns...) and stapled the DS160 confirmation page and my pictures at the covers she also checked my full name, place I was borned and city I live in Brazil she than gave a paper talking pretty much about Domestic violence and contacts of whon we should call in case that happens with us after we get in the USA after that she told us to sit at the second row and wait for our interview. There were some people waiting already and we were the last ones to be called at 9:10am. Next thing I heard was my name and while I was walking in the booth I saw this very polite Consulate around her 35ish years old with a smile saying good morning! She asked if I wanted to speak in English or Portuguese and I choosed English so Chris could understand the interview, next was the sworn I would say only the truth and the very first question was if we never got married before, that we both answered together with a big fat NO and she laughed at it. Next question was directed to me (I lived in the US with a B1 visa when I was a teenager for 4 years, reason why I had a BAN that actually expired in 2015) She asked me to explain how did that happend,If I came back to Brazil deported or because I wanted to (I didn't get deported).I felt she wanted to make sure I wasn't going to lie about anything since I just had sworned a few minuts before I wouldn't. After all the truth been said she looked at us and told me she was going to return my two old passports but that she was going to keep the valid one because we were APPROVVVEDDDD !!!! She also said Congradulations and wished us both happiness ...After that Chris gave me a big hug and we both wished her a good day at work ...we walked out the embassy like if we were stepping in the clouds with a big smile on our faces and looking foward to start our lives together soon!! She said my passport will take around 3 weeks to arrived and I will pick it up at the BH-CASV !!
