The consulate in Malawi is very friendly. I wrote the mm an email asking if I could be there for the interview with my husband, and they responded within hours. When it comes to response time, they are amazing.
When arriving at the consulate, make sure that you do not have your cellphone or any type of electronic device. Make sure that all your documents are properly placed in a binder. You will be taken in a room and they will ask for your civil documents. Make sure that you have them. Then, you will wait to see the consulate.
Overall, the consulate asked simple question and they were as follows...
1. How old are you?
2. How did you meet your wife?
3. Where does your wife stay?
4. Have you or your wife been married before?
5.When do you want to leave?
After that, the consulate informed him that his visa had been approved. They kept his passport and told him to come back the following Thursday in order to pick up his bisa. I noticed Thad on the CEAC website it said issued almost immediately.
This embassy processes immigrant visas on Thursday. They are not that busy and they are extremely friendly. To make the process easier, I suggest that you have your documents very organized and you have all the things that you need.
