It was such an easy process, worse part was that we were a lucky pair to get to wait for 3 hours - but I think that was because we were end of the day processing. Which in some ways is nice because there weren't any lines. His appointment was at 130 and they wouldn't let us in until 1 (others have said that they were able to get in a couple of hours before their interview).
We were given our number from the receptionist, and went to the waiting area. There were hundreds of chairs, so no issue there. Around 150 we went to the counter and handed over everything. I forgot the DS260 confirmation and was worried about that, but he never asked for it and it didn't seem to be an issue. He took the paperwork, one pile of originals and one of copies. Took my hubby's fingerprints on a scanner and his photos we provided. The only documents he needed were literally the ones on the checklist from the embassy. For the I-864 I included my form, three precious years tax transcripts, and a current bank statement. For my mom's we had the form, tax transcripts, letters showing monthly income, and her birth certificate. We went around-the-clock corner and paid, then back to the front counter we were originally at. Then we waited.
Around 345 we went around the corner again to do the interview. They don't always let the other people go to the counter with the immigrant, but they let me. She asked me who I was and my name and was happy with that. Right into the questions she asked things like "How did you meet?" "Tell me about how your relationship progressed" "Who is Patricia?" (our co-sponsor) "have you met eachothers families, what do they think of your relationship?" "Where will you live?" "what will you do for work?" simple things, and it really is just like having a conversation with someone.
Then she said approved
