Rundown is pretty much just like the rest of the reviews say. A guard outside checks your passport and DS-160 barcode page. You receive a laminated piece of paper with your number on entry to the building. Go through security, leave your phone with the people operating the metal detector and they give you a little ticket to pick your phone back up when you're done. Go down some stairs to an elevator, and up to the 19th floor. For my 8:15 appt there was no one queued to get on the elevator and no consular people in sight so it was a little different than some reviews.

Upstairs a greeter will tell you what side of the room to sit on and wait. Organize the papers according to the laminated sheet they give you (even though they do NOT ask for them in that order. You're still shuffling like an idiot once you get to the document submission, haha) and wait. I was called to the first station at 9:15am.

The lady there took my fingerprints on both hands, confirmed mailing address in Canada and my prospective one in the US, took all the documents from me. Then sent me back to the waiting room and told me to listen for my number again. They won't give you the laminated card back so remember your number.

Sat back down. Waited about 20 more minutes and was called to the infamous window #8 with the nice guy with the glasses. Guy was super friendly, chatty, very relaxing to talk to. Had me take the oath that I'll tell the truth then when I admitted I was nervous it was, "Why are you nervous?" I said, "It's just an unfamiliar situation and I have no idea what to expect!" smiling, etc as I do when I'm nervous, haha.

He said "We'll get the hard questions out of the way first then," with a laugh. Asked me, if I remember them all in order correctly:

1) Asked me about my nursing license and how I have to get licensed in the US.
2) Asked me if I've ever been in trouble with the law.
3) "Tell me about your fiancé" - I asked what he meant as that was pretty open ended and he said "anything" so I told him how we met, what he does, how we hit it off when we met in person.
4) Who proposed to who?
5) How did he propose to you?
6) Did you know it was coming? (Then joked about his proposal to his own wife, like I said, very easy to talk to)

Then he said, "Hard part's over, now let's just make sure all your papers are in order." Reviews my financial support documents and those of our cosponsor. Asks a question about the difference in income from one year to the next. Checks that everything else required is there in the folder.

Big smile at me, "Everything looks good! You're approved. Welcome to the United States," and slides the infamous paper through the window. "Expect your passport in a week or two."

I started to cry out of excitement/relief and commented that they should have a box of tissues outside that window. He laughed and told me to have a great day and off I went, face hurting from the giant grin I couldn't hold back!
