Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband's interview was scheduled for 6:45AM. He arrived rather early (around 5AM) and found that there were a lot of people in line already. At around 6:30 he entered the embassy. Everything went very smoothly and quickly.

During his pre-interview, the Filipino consul asked for the original copies of his civil documents (birth certificate, NBI clearance, marriage certificate), his CEMAR, my CEMAR (it was a good thing I had told him to retrieve mine as well because I had read here on VJ about people receiving 221g for it), and pictures of us. He was asked the following questions:
1.) What is your name?
2.) When is your birthday?
3.) What is your wife's name?
4.) When did you get married?

His interview with the American consul was very casual. It seemed more like small talk than an interview. The CO recognized my hometown (which is amazing because it's a small city in northeast Pennsylvania); and he made a comment about where we got married. The only actual question the CO asked pertaining to the case was "What does your wife do?" After my husband answered, the CO quickly looked through the financial documents, and said "Ok, you passed! You can expect your visa to be available in 5-10 working days." And that was it! He was finished and out of the embassy by 8AM.

My husband believes that his interview went so well because he smiled a lot and he did not stutter or hesitate to answer/reply when he was asked questions. Confidence is key! And it also helps that we were very meticulous about the paperwork, so he was well prepared.

*edit: My husband's case status on CEAC changed to ISSUED a few hours after his interview. His passport was ready for pickup at MOA after 2 working days... he picked it up the next day
