Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiancé's visa approval was very straight forward. Anyone that goes thru this consulate need to plan at least 1 week prior to your interview. Lab Testing takes 2 days then medical exam after 2 days, the following day you pick up your results and then interview the next day. Plan to be there Monday to Friday and works perfectly. (That's if you live outside of Bogota).
My fiancé arrived at 7:30, his appointment was at 8:00. and by 9:30 he was already out of the embassy.
He had to go thru those filters that everyone seem to talk about: first you go thru security then someone give you a list to organize your paperwork, the next person open the medical exams and ask you questions and give your a number to go sit ins from of window 3-5.
My fiancé stated that there was 3 male American (white) consuls conducting the interviews.
As some one has mention here: they take a moment to review your application and scan thru the documents very briefly. Then the questioning starts:
The questions are composed of nothing else than logical basic information about you and your fiancé. here and there he would through a trick question: here are the examples:
1. Who is petitioning you?
2. Country where your fiancé was born?
3. How did you meet?
4. Where did you meet?
5. Where does your fiancé lives?
6. What does your fiancé do? (what is his job)
7. Then he asked trick questions like: is your fiancé an engineer? (I am not)
8. Has he come to Colombia to visit you? No I have not been to Colombia due to work scheduling.
9.How long have you known each other?
10. When was the last time you saw each other? What date? I guess he wanted to verify with the application information.
11. The last thing he ask was if I (the petitioner) was divorced. I have never married to anyone before, so that was a trick question I guess.
12. Have you (the beneficiary) been divorced? Never

Then he stated that visa was approved and presented him with the Domestic Violence Information. He also said that DHL will be contacting him to go pick up the visa when it arrives in Medellin.

Overall, very easy if your relationship has a good bona fides!
