Review Topic: K1 Visa

The main reason I'm writing this is because I was so nervous before my interview and the reviews on this website helped me out completely!!

I arrived at the embassy at 10:45 and was informed by the lady for a K1 appointment I'd have to come back at 11am, I was a little flustered but she was very kind and made me feel very relaxed. When I returned another woman checked my DS-160 and insurrection page along with my passport and gave me a sticker with a number on it that I was told to watch for on the screen (I worked out that I was the 4th K visa in line). After basic airport screening I was allowed into the waiting room where it's very much like the waiting area in an Argos, pretty informal with lots of people. Also, I read in some places that mobile phones aren't allowed in the embassy - BUT you actually can take your phone in (just not laptops or bigger electronic devices) and you can use it in the waiting room which is a good distraction!

I was called to the first window, asked to scan my finger prints and then asked for all my various documents- as the most anxious person in the world I had everything organised into a folder with different separators which made this process smooth and simple. I had 4 passport photos- I think she scanned one and handed it back which means I now have 4 spare! Unlike some other reviews the lady took all my documentation for the I-134 affidavit (I had my fiancés tax returns and paychecks along with a form of ID and the same for his father who is a co-sponsor). She returned my x-ray from the medical and advised me to keep it safe. After this I returned to the waiting room (I'd say this was at about 11.50am roughly). At 12.30 on the dot I was called up for my interview!

I went up to the desk and a relatively friendly American gentleman greeted me, he was kind and said good afternoon and said that we should get on with the interview. He began by swearing me in and taking my fingerprints again. Then the interview started and it was extremely easy and relaxed, the questions I was asked were as follows:

How did you and _____ meet? (As my answer was at a party his response was)
Was that in the US or the UK? (I responded I met him on my year studying abroad in the US)
Where did you study abroad? (I replied Minneapolis at the UMN)
Was ________ studying there too? ( I replied yes and said what he studied)
So from when you met ______ how much time did you spend together until you left? (I answered)
Has he met your parents?
Have you met his parents?
He then asked me what I planned to do when I got there and kind of flustered I responded "be a wife!" He laughed and said "great answer"

And then he said I'm going to go ahead and approve you and I was so excited I was practically bouncing around- I think I even told him I'd have hugged him if there wasn't a sheet of glass there!. He then said to call your fiancé and let him know the good news!

I have been consumed with worry about this for so, so long and honestly it's an easy process, so long as you're being truthful and honest you will have no problem- I didn't feel like anyone was out to get me at all!!!!

Good luck with any of your interviews!
