We were really apprehensive going into the interview as my visitors visa to the U.S. (I had an Indian passport at the time; now am a Canadian citizen) had been cancelled last year. Once at the Montreal consulate, we were given a token number, waited for our turn at the first window where a very courteous lady checked all our documents. I was fully prepared with everything - and had everything ready as she was was requesting them. Next, we were asked to wait again for our turn with the interview officer. When we were called, the officer asked my husband to leave, saying I must face him alone! My husband was very nervous, but I kept my cool. The officer only asked where I intended to live and the regular questions about if I'd ever been denied/deported from the States. I told him my visa had been cancelled because I hadn't started the Green Card process to which he said, happens all the time and told me I was approved! I couldn't believe how smoothly the whole experience (only interview) went. All in all we spent about 2 hours at the consulate but the overall consulate experience was super positive! The officer said my passport with the visa stamp will be ready to be picked up in about 8 days after which I can travel to the States at any time
