We got to the consulate a little before 8:30 for a 9:00 appointment. It was raining and the line had maybe 15 or so people in it. We were let inside around 8:45. Our number ended up being applicant 14. I'd read reviews saying not to get there earlier than 30 minutes before, but I think if you can, push for an hour. We waited about an hour or more for his number to be called. He went up to the window, took about 10 minutes with his documents. After that, it took maybe another 20 minutes for his interview. It was simple, less than five minutes, and he came out with a letter welcoming him to the US.
The consulate was fine and everyone was helpful. It did get very crowded in there by 11. The intercom is a little hard to hear and they won't repeat the message for another few minutes, so try to pay attention. Their vending machines also didn't have any water. They do have a play area for children with toys and books, so that's nice for anyone who can't get a babysitter. No electronics are allowed, they will confiscate them at the door, so bring something to hold your attention.
