My appointment was scheduled for 1pm on Tuesday May 3rd. I arrived at the embassy at 10:30am (I was mildly anxious)
After lining up in two lines (one short, one fairly longer) I entered the embassy at approximately 11am.
I was in and out within half an hour. My ticket number was called twice (two separate windows).
Documents Needed:
- Passport
- Visa size pic
- Appointment Letter
- DS-160
- Police Certificate
- Birth Certificate
- I-134 (I offered supporting documents to the interviewer who politely declined)
Questions (seemed more like an informal chat to me!!!)
What is the name off your Fiance? (Me: Matthew)
Did you meet him on your previous J1? (Me: Nope)
*Shocked face when I said no*
So how did you meet him: (Me: we worked on cruise ships together)
Oh, I see, what were your positions (Me: I was a personal concierge and he was an Environmental Officer)
What is a personal concierge? (me: Assisting guests who were high value to the company... basically making their vacations as perfect as possible)
Ah, Okay. Where are you moving to: (me: about 90 mins outside of Boston)
Oh yeah? Where abouts? (me: Rehoboth, its Mass but kinda close to Rhode island)
I know it, Im from Connecticut myself (me: not too far then!)
So you like Baseball? (me: all about the Red Sox!)
and Basketball? (me: Celtics all the way!)
You’re passing the quiz! (me: Woohoo!!!)
Okay your visa is approved! (me: AWESOME!!!!!)
You’ll receive it in approximately 14 days (me: Thank you)
