I read all the other reviews about Montreal consulate before I went to mine, and it was approved helpful. First of all, IT IS fist come first serve. My interview was scheduled at 7:40 am in the morning, which was the first time slot available in a day, but there were already 28 people before me when I arrive at 7:30 am.
I got the number of 29 at the door, waited for a while to get through the security, then was directed into the downstairs lobby to wait for the elevator.I panicked a little because I sat far away from the elevator, and the guard did not call for numbers or anything, and people just seemed to rush into the elevator when it comes down. I missed the first two times, so I decided to just move very fast into the elevator when I saw the third one.
The guard took all of us to the 19th floor, I sat in the middle section, as told by the girl at the door who gave me my number. It was about 8:20 at this point. Then I sat there until 9:00 am, when I was finally called to Window 1 and submit a bunch of documents. (Note that when you receive the number paper at the door, it will tell you which documents you should have right by hand when you're called to the window. I don't remember clearly, but I think, passport, interview letter, medical result.) Then the lady took my finger prints, and asked me for other documents such as affidavit of support and supporting documents.
Then, she told me to sit back into the middle section and wait for my number to be called again. It was 9:05, only took 5 minutes. Then I sat there for another 25 minutes, got called to window 6 at around 9:30 am. A new officer greeted me with smile, very friendly, asked a few easy questions like how my fiance and I met. Didn't even ask to see photos or anything.
He was in a good mood I think, we talked for a few minutes, and then he took out a piece of paper and said "Well guess what is this? I don't know. Oh let me see again, it says welcome to America!" Lol We both laughed, I thanked him. Then he said the visa should be returned within the next 2 weeks. I asked if I could do a pick up at the Consulate next day, he said they could try to accelerate the process, but can't promise anything. Then he gave me a piece of re-entering paper and told me to come back and see the next day. I went back on Thursday, it was not ready, then Friday again, it was not ready. So then I decided to not go in every single day and just wait. Then I waited until next week, and finally got a call on next Wednesday, telling me to go in and pick it up.
I was SO happy! By the way, the guards even start to recognize my face because I show up too frequently! lol
People are nice and helpful, it is the waiting that takes up most of the time, but the actual process is pretty easy-peasy. Everyone, good luck! :D
