Our experience:
So, we stayed in a hotel the day before about 5 minutes away from the embassy. We really didn't want to drive so early and wanted to be safe! Hotel is called Micro Hotel & Condo Suites. It's good for the purpose of trip!
We really didn't sleep the night before. Our appointment was at 9am so we got up around 4:45am and got ready. We arrived around 5:45am. Hubby parked car near embassy for $250 pesos. Please BE AWARE: Near embassy, there are the infamous BUSCONES. They'll make you believe they are part of the embassy and "help" you get all of your papers assorted and blah blah blah. DONT FALL FOR IT. So many people were scammed.
Anywho, Everything is organized by lines with the time of your appointment. There was a huge line already for all the 7am appointment and a moderate one for 8am. We were the first one for 9am. The line for the family with kids was very long too. Around 6:30ish, a lady came out and started entering people. You need to have your appointment letter first page in hand. Just that. NO CELL PHONES or supposedly LIPSTICKS LIPGLOSS.
You enter. Go through security then enter another building. The facility is very nice. Once you enter the second building, you'll be given a ticket with your number. Ours was 200. We thought the earlier you arrive, the earlier you will leave. That WASN'T our case and I'll explain why later on. So around 8:30ish I think we were finally called the first time. At first, they do call the number in order.
We need to hand our Good Conduct Paper, Medical Envelope, Passport and Appointment Letter.
The lady was nice. She asked for our name and when we were married. Handed over additional documents they had. We didn't have to give our marriage or birth certificate because I sent the originals in the AOS/IV package. But we had EVERYTHING!!!! Just in case
So now, the real wait came in!!! There's a lady there that sells food. Basic stuff, water sandwiches chips soda coffee. We were called for our interview almost at 11am. 😑 We've seen people with the number in the 300 being called for their interview before us. I honestly don't know how it works. I thought that maybe they called people with children first but that isn't the case. But anywho, the wait was WORTH IT
We were asked to raise our right hand to swear us in. Then the questions flowed:
While he took hubby's fingerprints, he asked him these questions:
1 His Name & asked me for mine.
2. Are you married? 😂
3. How long have you been married?
4. What will you do for your anniversary? (Since its this month)
I told him we would like to celebrate it in New York and we laughed.
The consul said, well, that depends on this interview lol
5. How did you meet her?
6. When was the first time she came to visit?
In this one, hubby forgot year. He was so nervous so I helped him.
7. What did you do during that first trip?
8. Does your wife have any siblings?
9. How many?
10. Their names?
11. Where was she born?
12. What does she do for a living?
Since I've been living with him here, he stated that!!
So the consul asked me...
13. How long have you've been here?
I said since November, last time I traveled to the U.S. and came back.
I know it seems like a lot of questions, and now that I write them out, it is a lot but everything was in a conversational tone. We were comfortable. We laughed. Got nervous. But WE MADE IT!!!
He then told us our VISA WAS APPROVED!!!😎💥🎉🇺🇸
We clapped jumped and hugged. We were blessed. He didn't ask for any documents or anything but we were sooooo READY!!!
