Review Topic: K1 Visa

Appointment Date: 28 March 2016
Appointment Time: 6:30 AM
Total Time Spent in Embassy: Approx. 2 hours
Visa Issuance Date: 29 March 2016
Visa Delivery Date: 1 April 2016

My fiancé and I lined up outside the embassy at around 6:00 AM. A woman escorted us to the back of one of the queues, but a few minutes later, I overheard that the queue we were on was for 6:45 AM, so I asked someone else where the 6:30 AM queue was and moved there. It was a much shorter line. We stood outside for about 10 minutes and then we were called in.

First step, which was Biometrics, went smoothly. Step Two was Pre-Screening, wherein we encountered a very irritable, impatient Filipina officer (or whatever they're called). Step Three, Oath Taking, was quick and easy. The wait for Step Four, Interview, probably took about 15 minutes. The interview itself felt more like a conversation; it was easy and laid-back. We weren't asked for any additional documents, not even the I-134 (Affidavit of Support). We were told that my passport will be delivered to my address in 5-10 working days. Step Five, Releasing, was very quick as well.

Yesterday, 1 April, 2016, I got a text message from 2GO that my passport was going to be delivered, which was a surprise. Getting my visa only took 4 working days from my interview date.

I would give a rating of 5, if not for the unpleasant experience with the woman from Pre-Screening.
