Visa Application Center (VAC) - New Delhi
- Arrived at 8:00 AM for an 8:30 AM appointment.

- There is paid parking at the building if you come early.
- Preferable not to take any personals like cell phone, bags etc. Take only the documents which have been requested.

- Was asked to enter building at 8:15 AM with other 8:30 Appointment holders.

- Ensure you take your valid passport, VAC appointment letter & DS 160 confirmation page. They also asked to see the Visa Fee payment receipt (I printed the ustraveldocs webpage which shows your receipt details).
The staff will stamp your DS 160 and it is IMPORTANT you take this stamped DS160 to your VISA interview at the embassy.

- Passed through a quick security check, went to the counter at the entrance where they asked for my passport, appointment letter and DS160 confirmation page. I was then asked to pick up a token and wait for my number to be called.

- Once token was called, it took less than 10 minutes to have my photo and Biometrics taken. I was out by 8:30AM!

Consular Interview - New Delhi
- Arrived at 8 AM for my 8:30 AM appointment.

- There is a small stall across the street from the Embassy where you can keep bags and electronics. I didn't use it personally, and I cannot vouch for security of your items, but in the case you HAVE to bring your personals, you can leave them there.

- Make sure you stand in the Immigrant line! Don't follow the crowd and stand in the Non-Immigrant line.

- Ensure you have your stamped DS160 Confirmation page from your VAC appointment. This is required!

- Security at the entrance of Embassy checked that I was carrying my passport, VAC appointment letter, DS 160 confirmation page and Visa Fee payment receipt (I printed the ustraveldocs webpage which shows your receipt details).

- A second security then took place and I was asked to be seated at a Courtyard along with other Immigrant applicants.

- After approximately 45 mintues, an Indian staff member then called us one at a time and re-arranged all of our documents. He specifically pulled out:
Passport
Appointment letter
Samped DS 160 confirmation page
Two photographs 2x2 inches
Medical Report (he unsealed them)
Police Clearance Certificate from the Regional Passport Office (I had to bring from 3 countries, but they took my India certificate only).
Original and photocopy of Birth Certificate
Affidavit of Support: Form I-134
Visa Fee payment receipt

He asked that I maintain the supplementary evidence and submit them if requested. I brought
Proof of Affidavit of Support (Tax returns, W2s, Payslips, Bank Statements and job letter),
Proof of relationship in the form of a small photo album with photos of us together with friends and family over the years (I labelled them with dates & occasions),
Copy of Form I-797C Notice of Action 1,
Copy of Form I-797 Notice of Action,
Letters of Intent to Marry &
a copy of the entire 1-29F submitted by my Fiance.

- At approximately 9:30 AM the applicants for Immigrant visas were requested to go to the Interview area and stay seated until called.

- After a 15 minute wait, an Indian staff member asked us to join a queue at a window. The Indian Staff at the window took my Passport and appointment letter and returned them along with a token number.

- Returned to seating area. At approximately 10:30 AM, my token number was called and I was called to another window this time with my entire evidence pack. The Indian staff asked to see the documents which had been arranged at the courtyard earlier. He reviewed those documents and asked me to keep the evidence. I was asked a few questions asking where & how I had met my Fiance and what I my job was and then requested to be seated again till my final interview

- At approximately 11:00 AM my token number was called again and I went to another window with all my evidence. This time I was met with an American staff member who asked me to raise my hand and repeat after her that I swore to be truthful. She had my fiance's original 1-29F which she reviewed as she asked some questions.

Questions asked were how I had met my fiance, where I have lived and if I had police clearance certificates from the other countries. I handed these over. She then took some photos from my fiance's original application and asked where the photos had been taken. She also asked why I had lived and moved abroad. After about 10 mintues, the interview was over and she handed over a yellow form congratulating me on getting my visa!

I used the https://ceac.state.gov/ website to track the status of my visa. The status was updated to Issued 4 days after my interview and I picked up my passport a few days later.
