Review Topic: K1 Visa

As other reviewers have stated the interview process was very smooth and painless. I arrived at 7:30 for a 8:00 appointment, about 15 minutes later than planned. I joined the long queue with my fiancee who had flown over for the week. Within a few minutes I had been asked whether I was for an immigrant visa and was moved to a much shorter queue and very rapidly passed through security. We discovered though that my fiancee wasn't allowed inside the embassy despite having her US passport on her. Had we called ahead and got her on an additional visitor list she would have been allowed in.

Once inside I got my number, I905, and sat in the waiting room. At 8:00 the numbers started appearing on the board, mostly Ns with a few Is, Ls and an E. After about fifteen minutes I901 was called followed quickly by I902 and I903. There was then a ten minute gap before 904 and my number were called. So it seemed there were three windows dealing with the initial paperwork handover and fingerprinting for the I (immigrant) visas. At the window there was a English lady, she wasn't exactly friendly but not rude either, just very matter of fact. She took my paperwork - only what had been listed on the required paperwork page - appointment letter, passport, I-134, birth certificate, divorce decree, photo, courier registration and police certificate. She didn't want any tax returns etc. She then fingerprinted me and I went back to the waiting room. No sooner had I sat down than I901 was recalled. For the actual interview only one window was being used. I therefore had about a 45 minute wait before I was called. When my number was recalled, I was greeted by a very friendly youngish American man. It turned out his parents live in the same smallish Minnesota city that my fiancee lives in and will be my home in a few months time. The interview itself was very quick (less than 5 minutes) and very friendly. The only question he asked that I'd not seen online was "What annoys you about your fiancee". He was happy with my response that I'd not discovered anything yet. He then said I was approved. I thanked him and left the embassy by 9:30 where my fiancee was waiting for me to go and celebrate.
