My appointment was in London at 8am and after following the reviews I
made sure I got there as early as possible. I got the underground to
Bond Street and it was just a 5 minute walk to the Embassy - very easy.
I got there about 6:50am and was already about 11th in the line. At
about 7:15ish the staff started organizing the tent that they were under
and the first stop where they check your interview details. They
arranged everyone into three lines - 8am, 8:30am and then 9 and started
with the 8am people first. I went in through security and around the
building and went up to reception where they printed out my ticket
number. I was I901 - which meant that I was first for the Immigrant
visas - wuhoo!
I went in and took a seat and started to get my paperwork ready to be
presented and noticed that my ticket had 7:36am on it, which was
obviously the time that I had entered. At about 8am they started
announcing numbers to go up to the windows on the big screen and a lot
of them where the N visas so I just had to wait patiently. It was
probably about 8:10/8:15ish when I was called up to the window to
present my paperwork. The guy was really nice and just asked if I had my
passport, my courier receipt, birth certificate and police check etc and
a few general questions as well as my finger prints. He then told me to
go and sit down and wait for my interview.
I sat and waited and it was maybe 15-20 minutes until I was called up to
the second window to go and chat with the guy for the interview. He was
very nice and made me swear that everything in my paperwork and that I
say would be true to which my response was yes. He then asked me the
name of my fiance, how we met (he even made a joke) and then asked how
many times we had seen each other over the last few years - I started
rattling off all my visits and then he just stopped me and asked if
either of us had been married before, if we had kids and where we were
planning on living and then he said 'Ok you are approved!' to which I
was like OMG I am going to cry! So he laughed and said go ahead and wake
him up! It was very quick and painless but I think this was due to the
fact that I had done a LOT of work to prepare the paperwork and evidence
and just being confident that we had nothing to hide made it an easy
interview.
I went out and woke him up with the good news and I was out of the
embassy by about 8:50am I think - so getting up at 4am to be the first
one in was def a good idea!!
