Rating: | Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Brief Background since I am a new user:
Wife is a U.S citizen while I am a Canadian resident working on a work permit in Canada. We got married in August 2014.
I have been rejected twice for a non-immigrant visa.
Appointment date and time: February 2nd, 2016 @ 10 am
I did my medicals at Medisys, Montreal on 27th January. I was told that the reports will be available for pickup on 1st February but they were not ready till 9:30 am on the day of the interview.
Security:
We were greeted by a lady at the entrance who checked our p4 letter and passport. Security screening was a breeze since we didn't have anything besides our documents and our jackets. We used grocery bags to carry our document folders.
Interview:
Went to the 19th floor and sat for less than 5 minutes before called to a counter to submit documents. We followed the advice on Visa Journey and used tabs and sticky notes and document submission was very quick. Documents submitted were original birth certificate, marriage certificate, passport, police certificate, medicals and photos.
We sat for about 10-15 minutes before I was called for the interview. The interview took roughly between 5-7 minutes. The officer was in his early 30's, brown hair and wears glasses. He was very nice and polite.Following questions were asked:
1) Have you lived anywhere else beside Canada and my home country?
2) Any trouble with police?
3) Where my wife lives?
4) what does she do?
5) what do I do for a living?
6) Who is my joint sponsor? What does he do?
7) Ever been to U.S?
After asking these questions, he handed me the "Welcome to U.S" letter. The interview was very short and easy. I was not asked for any supporting evidence.
Advice: Be as calm as possible and give clear and concise answers.
