Biometrics took about 10 minutes all together, 5 minutes for security and 5 minutes for fingerprinting etc.

All K-1 interviews at the consulate are on Fridays.

My fiance and I both attended the interview. We arrived about 15 minutes before the scheduled time and were able to enter within 5 minutes. Walk past the very long line of people going in for non-immigrant visas and speak to the guards who will tell you where to go. Make sure you don't bring any prohibited items such at matches or flash drives to the consulate. You will have to dump them and more than likely will not be able to retrieve them.

Once inside the consulate you will be asked by guards at various points to show your paperwork. They will tell you where to go.

After we arrived at the correct waiting room, we were given a ticket number. When we were called for the first interview, my fiance was expecting questions but the only thing we were asked for was both of our phone numbers and full names. He forgot my number but I provided it before I (the petitioner) was asked politely to go sit. The Indian visa officer reviewed our documents and asked my fiance to provide my tax records and other relevant documents which he entered into our records.

After 20 minutes we were called to the next interview. My fiance was asked to raise his hand and take an oath of honesty. I wasn't sure if I needed to raise my hand too so I did it anyway but he told me it wasn't necessary with a smile. I was asked not to answer any of the questions but was allowed to stand with my fiance while the visa officer asked him a few questions. He was asked how we met at first, how we met in person, how our relationship came to be, and finally what his family thinks of our relationship.

I felt like the whole process went quite easily. Keep calm, if you're acting unusually nervous it's a red flag. Front load your paperwork with your evidence when you send the initial petition because a lot of times they don't ask for any additional evidence. In our case when my fiance went to show them our wedding invitations and reached for the bag all we heard was "don't worry about it." I also felt like they went easily on us because we both went to the interview.

Our visa was approved at the second interview and now we are just waiting for the hard copy to arrive.

Tip once inside: You can't bring your own drinks inside but there are water fountains in the waiting room on the right (not the same room you will be waiting in but in the same building) and near the exit. You will be waiting a couple of hours and once the sun comes up it starts to get hot inside.
