Appointment time was at 9:30am. Woke up at my hotel (Days Inn) and walked to the consulate. Arrived at 7:30am, already a lineup. Security sending those who have backpacks to the Eaton Center food court where they have lockers. Got into the building and presented my interview letter, and given a appointment number (#10) from there I was led to the security area where I was scanned. Had to turn over my cellphone (only thing I brought other than paperwork).
Went downstairs to the elevator, it wasn't busy at all for the elevator. I was told to sit down and wait. Since I arrived much earlier than my appointment, it was fine to wait. I was called up to the #12 window around 9am. I submitted my passport, medical, police certificate, and birth certificate. After the clerk, gave back the medical xray CD, police certificate and birth certificate.
Again I was told to sit down in the waiting area. After 5 min I was called to window 8, where I answered general questions like "How did you and your wife meet?", " How many children do you have?", "Is this your wife's first marriage?" "Have you had any trouble with border? Police?"
I gave short and sweet answers. At one point our conversation turned into talking about how many gamers they see meeting due to the games they play together. Many from World of Warcraft, apparently.
I brought pictures to show him of my wife and daughter.
HE THEN GAVE ME A WELCOME TO THE USA LETTER! APPROVED!
All in all I stressed a lot and brought much more documents than I needed, still it was quick and a stress free interview. Thanks everyone on Visajourney!
