Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
My appointment was for 8am yesterday, got there around 7.30am, the usual long queues, which were snaking all over the place, difficult to work out which one to join, but as I've been looking at other previous posts on this was proactive and asked a member of staff where to queue, was directed to a smaller queue for immigration. ( the longer queues were for tourist visas and yes those in that queue got upset as K1 applicants were moved forward) lol
After the the security checks ( X-ray and search arch) went inside to the reception desk on the right hand side of the building as you look at it. There they put on a label onto your interview letter and mine was a 'I' letter and a number. When you go into a large waiting room with a large screen at the end, which pinged now and again telling certain numbers to go to certain windows. You have to monitor this screen as you don't want to miss your number being called and missing it. ( the waiting room filled as the morning went on and they were hundreds of people in there eventually, it can be noisy and busy, there are also other types of visas are on the screens, V and N seemed quite popular, again you have to keep an eye on the screen for your particular number ( I) and your individual number.
Went to my allocated window and met by a nice lady who took various documents off me and compiled them into a file, was then told to sit down again and wait for my number to be called again.
Eventually went back to the window and this time, it was a young man who swore me in on oath by raising my right hand and stating I would tell the truth. He then told me to wait a while while he left the desk because the lady before had not taken my DS-160 bar code off the confirmation letter and so he couldn't set up my case! He was friendly and told me there was no problem to worry about, but the long wait until he came back made me feel even more nervous. Eventually he came back and then continued the interview of about 10 questions about our relationship which only I would know. There was nothing tricky, just be yourself and if everything is genuine you won't have any problems, at the end he said congratulations you are approved and you will get your passport and visa back within 2 weeks! So all done after a 8 month wait, all done in a 5 minute interview. Lots of waiting around and just be yourself and tell them about your relationship naturally, they don't seem to try and catch you out. I suppose if they have doubts or red flags, they will be more probing, hope this helps.
Laurie and Florida here I come 😎
