Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

The appointment was scheduled for 9 AM, but we arrived at 6:50, and we were attended to right away. A man in front of us was turned away at the first checkpoint for not having his medical exam results.

We passed through the pre-interview and interview quickly. The questions were all simple and easy. She spoke to me on the phone to clarify something on the I-864. Evidence was never requested, and she never looked at the new police certificate, nor the marriage certificate. They asked for copies of my joint sponsor's birth certificate and passport, which I didn't have. She said that it was no problem, to email it. She handed us the 221g form indicating where to send the documents and said that the visa would be at DHL in about two weeks. Then, she gave him the domestic violence packet and explained it. She never said the word 'accepted' or 'welcome to the US', but it was okay, and we got the visa fairly quickly, less than two weeks. Best wishes to all going through this process - patience is so important in this.
