Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

I had my AOS interview here today - the office is in the Court House (you can park on the street for $7 for 4hrs, or $9 in a parking lot across the street). The security here were awesome, so friendly and joked around with us.

We checked in with a lady at the front desk who took our appointment letter and asked us to take a seat. We arrived about 30 minutes before and had our interview at our interview time.

The interview was very straightforward. It was a request for additional paperwork proving we were married and a confirmation of my original paperwork, both from my K-1 visa, J-1 in the past and now AOS. It took us a while to go through it and we handed only handed over new documents (joint bank accounts, insurance docs, photos, facebook status updates), all evidence that proved we were married and cohabiting.

The lady did not request anything that was on our appointment letter but make sure to bring copies of EVERYTHING. Have one folder of originals, and one folder of copies. You will need to make sure the interviewer can keep the documents you bring in (photos, cards etc).

We finished up the interview with me (the beneficiary) answering questions regarding my AOS (I-485) form, so confirmation of address, if i'd ever been a prostitute...etc etc haha. And she also wanted to confirm how we met, so she had some notes for the review at a later date (it sounds like somebody else reviews all the information she took).

She gave us a letter stating we should hear within 120 days (hopefully sooner!). And for those in our situation, definitely continue to save documents proving your marriage - you will experience this all over again to remove the conditional greencard.

Best of luck to others! Don't panic, it's a painless process.
