Despite over two weeks passing between the interview and my medical the Embassy had not received my medical report. The first lady who collected all my original documents seemed much more concerned than the actual lady who did the consular interview who said this happens quite often.
The very nice and relaxed consular lady went through the paperwork, gave me back the originals, and simply asked how we met and when. She said once the medical evaluation came in they would glance over the file one last time before dispatching everything to me via the embassy courier service (and no pieces of paper warning me of impending issues!). She was very clear that I had no more than six months from the medical i.e. March 6, 2016 to arrive in the US so I'm guessing everything is fine.
After the appointment I went to the medical office as it is in the neighbourhood and they said they had reported no issues and the file had been dispatched by courier at the end of last week. They said they send over so many that my file will be in the Embassy somewhere!
Of course, my CEAC status now says Administrative Processing so fingers crossed this is the good AP and that they'll quickly find and match up my medical and file and move my status to Issued.
Apart from the missing file and now being in limbo, the experience was far less stressful than I had imagined. Arrived at 7:30 with about 20 people already in line but was quickly sent into the Embassy. At 8 AM they started calling people but the sound system broke down and they struggled to get the video display working (might have something to do with using Windows 7!!). That stressed me out but soon the screen was working and I was fixated watching and waiting for my number. I was called up for the first time around 8:20 AM and both meetings were over by 10:30 AM
