We had our interview yesterday. We got there at 6.40am and we were the first.. It wasn't as busy as others have said so maybe it depends on the day of the week.. Most people probably try to go on a friday?
At 7.30am the security came out and put the stanchions for the direction of the line. A lady came out with a clipboard and asked who had a 7.40am appointment and then gave us our number and check us off the list.. I'm not sure about the non immigrant people..
We went through security with ease as we didn't bring in anything with us except our folder and hotel card key.. My fiance was allowed to come up with me.
We sat near the elevator and waited for the security card to come and open the tape to the elevator.
We got up and we sat down in the middle section but then a guy came around and asked us to line. He then noticed we had the appointment no card and told us to sit down. He said we'll be called according to case number not according to the no on the card we were given.. guess in case people got upset no 4 got called before 2..
I got called at the window and the lady asked me for my documents.. passport, birth certificate.. She asked me for my PR card (I'm not canadian but PR in canada) which i didn't have as I left my wallet at the hotel.. I got really worried about. She said it's fine and it should be in the passport.. I had also sent it to them with my packet 3..SO if you're not canadian but resident in canada, please bring proof of your status in canada!
we sat and waited to be called. it felt like an eternity.. at 8.35ish, I got called to window 7. The CO was so serious.. He asked me to read the oath. He asked me How I met my fiance, which website, when did we meet in person, when did we get engaged. He asked me where I've lived, He asked me if I've ever been convicted of a crime, refused entry to US, been to US illegally. He asked me about my fiance. He said the last name wrong so I said it for him.. So hopefully that showed him I knew him more. He asked me what he does for work and where was the suburb my fiance was.. He asked me if I read the IMBRA thing.. He asked me which country I'm a citizen of. He then gave me the welcome to the US letter and said it should be sent in 1-2 weeks. I was soooo nervous I felt like I was going to poop my pants! I walked away from the window and gave my fiance the thumbs up and waited for the elevator and out we went happy and relieved!
I'd recommend trying Olive and Gourmando in Old Montreal btw we went there for breakfast and loved it!! We stayed at the Travellodge which was reasonable price for 5-10 min walk to the consulate!
