I arrived in El Paso Wednesday June 20th and my wifes family picked me up at the airport and we went to their house in Juarez. The first thing i wanted was the food mmmm. The next morning we went to have my wifes physical about 6:30am. There were 2 offices next to the consulate but the attendant where we parked suggested one over the other because they had a larger waiting room inside. We went in and my wife gave them her passport and Appointment letter. We asked to speak to someone about her being pregnant and they said dont worry they would not take x-rays becuase of this. We sat for about an hour until they called her name. She first sat down with a lady that took her photo and asked a few questions then we returned to the waiting room. About 30 minutes later her name was called and she went into the lab to have blood taken which only took about 15 minutes. Her name was called again about 15 minutes later and she went back to the the examination room. She said the doctor was nice and meassured her stomache to confirm how far along she was. We were finished about 10:30am. We paid the fee and they told us to come back at 2:30pm to pick up the packet for her interview. We spend Friday through Sunday enjoying the good food and visiting with her family and friends. Monday morning we arrived at the consulate about 6:30 and the line was pretty long. I think there were about 300+ people there. At 7:30 am they started letting people in but only the people with an appointment, no spouses were allowed in. All the spouses and family members waited across the street or in the restaurants near by. I waited across the street for about an hour and a few people started coming out. Some were missing documents and some needed money. Apparently they were all having their documents checked to see if they had everything they needed and some did not. Then the rejections started coming out . I think these were mostly people that were in the US illegally and were going to have to file a 601 waiver and I am sure a few were just rejections. The first approvals started coming out around 2:30pm that afternoon. I was happy my wife never came out because sometimes no news is good news. I kept waitng and waiting and waiting and finally around 4:30pm my wife came out and she was smiling so I ran across the street and kissed her. She had her visa in hand. I asked her how everything went inside and she said it was all easy, they didnt ask her hardly any questions, they looked over my income information and said everything looks great and said she was approved. She did say that they checked her history with her B1/B2 and that my income was very good so we will have no problems. She told me the hard part was waiting because she is 6 months pregnant and had to go to the bathroom alot and that the food and drinks inside were too expensive. Luckily she took a large water bottle and a bag of cookies with her. The only problem she had inside was hearing them call her name. The lady that interviewed her was very soft spoken and called her name several times but my wife did not hear. She said she would have been out 2 hours or more earlier but she kept missing her name being called. She said that she asked them to speak louder but the still spoke the same. We had plane tickets for the next afternoon so we decided to go to the POE bridge and take care so we wouldnt miss our flight the next day. We arrived at 1:00am the Cordova bridge. We went inside and saw about 50 people waiting. We asked the officer about getting her passport stamped and he said all the computers were down and it could be as long as 6 hours for them to come back up. We decided to wait a little while and about an hour later everyone made a mad dash for the counters. Everyone there was getting travel permissions with their b1/b2 visas. We waited about 15 minutes in line and when we went to the counter we gave our papers to the officer, as usual the border patrol officer was a jerk but a few minutes later we had her stamp and I-94 in her passport. My wife does not like the border patrol because they treat all Mexicans like low class people, my wife has a college degree and so does most of her family. She says "if the officers are American they are nice but the Chicanos they are extremely rude" I know the border patrol has to deal with all levels of people at the border but they are ALWAYS nice and respectful to me because I am American. All my wifes friends dislike the border patrol becuase everytime they cross the border to go shopping or whatever they worry that they will take there B1/B2 visa away. My wife and I were talking with her Dr. while we were there and she is married to an American but they live in Juarez. Everytime they cross her husband gets out and walks across the bridge while she drives because they are afraid the border patrol will take her visa away and possibly deport her. She is a Dr and makes excellent money in Juarez, she isn't sneaking into the US.
