I arrived in London the day before my interview and to see how far the embassy was in conjunction to the hotel I was staying at. As I settled in for the night and tried to relax I soon realised I couldn't as just loads of what if's where running through my mind. I know everyone says relax and it's easy to say that but when it's the unknown then it makes it hard. My interview was at 9am I planned on setting off around 7:30 and taking a slow stroll to the embassy as it was a 30 min walk away. 4am my alarm was set as I planned on speaking to my partner prior to it... It was now 1am and I hadn't slept a wink!
I got to the embassy at 8:12am and was told "go to the front of the line" a lady took my interview letter and passport put one inside the other and said go to the security guard and he'll wave you straight over. He took my passport and interview letter and started to read it... He then started double checking things, looked at my photo and told me to stand back so he could get a better look. My heart began to race and I was thinking 'what if I've hit the wrong key or something whilst putting in my passport number' I looked at him and said 'Is there a problem' he said "No I just wanted to see how nervous you could look" and laughed... I must of looked pretty nervous!
I followed the signs round the yard and went to reception the lady took my interview papers and stuck my numbers on and told me to watch the screen and look out for my number.
I took a seat and waited I was surprised at the amount of people that where actually in there - time seemed to go quite fast waiting for the first part. My number come out and I went and handed my documents over to a gentleman who told me to go back and wait for my number to be called.
By now the room was really full (Tip - try and get a seat on the left hand side of the building in front of the huge screen as the other side of the room seems to attract everyone that just came in couldn't see a seat and obstructed the numbers on the screen... You will look like a meerkat bobbing up and down every few seconds)
I heard my number get called over the PA system... Or at least I thought I did. So I thought I'll just go ask and make sure. A gentleman was waiting there and told me he was waiting for me.
Went through the usual questions that everyone seems to get asked with regards to how did we meet when did you first meet in person. The guy was unreadable and after all the stuff I'd read about people getting the lovely lady who was chatting to them about stuff. I just though I'd failed. He looked down and my heart sank. "Congratulations buddy your visa will be back in 1 to two weeks"... I couldn't believe it I had to ask him again. "Yeah your going your visa will be back with you" I paused slightly to ask him a few questions and he turned into the super nice guy. He's got a job to do I guess so I walked out of there on cloud 9
