Review Topic: K1 Visa

I had my K1 Visa interview at this consulate.

My interview was at 1pm. I arrived at the Embassy at 12.10, and there were a group of about 5 people there too. Most had interviews to attend for various Visas. There is a little tent with a table outside the front gates, people lined up to that (In the rain!)

At 12.30 two people came out from the embassy and sat at the table taking peoples interview letter and passport. I was 4th or 5th in the queue. You were given a number on your interview letter.

I went through processing, taking off all metal objects and belt, pretty much like the security check points at US airports. None of my phone, or personal belongings were taken from me.

I took the signs to immigrant visas, and went and sat down in a large room with many seats. On the screens numbers began to pop up, and the people corresponding to those numbers went to a booth.

I was called up about 10 minutes after entering. A man took all the paperwork needed from me, police cert, birth cert, affidavit of support etc. I had this all prepared and it was a breeze. He asked if i had travel plans, and i did, i had to get back asap and he agreed. He told me to go sit down again, wait for my number and get ready for my interview.

About 15 minutes later i was called up. A very kind and friendly lady got my file, and looked through it. The only questions she asked was how we met, and what job i do. We happily talked about other things mainly during the interview, and after only 5 minutes or so she said ''I'm very happy to say you have been approved.'' I thanked her, she gave me back my paperwork and i made my way out of the embassy.

It was a very easy, welcoming, and pleasant experience. They made the whole process very stress free.
