Review Topic: K1 Visa

I thought my interview would be cancelled or postpone because of the world wide technical problems that all embassies are experiencing right now.

I had my interview on June 18, 2015. Day before my interview, my fiance called the embassy to check whether i should reschedule a new one. He was then told that I am not one of those who will be affected. He was told that I should on my scheduled date.

I went there at about 4 am. I was the second in the K-1 line. There was already a long line for the immigrant visa applicants. (If feels a little weird because from what I have been reading, the K1 visa applicants will always a long qeue.) The applicant before me has problems with her DS-160 as she was not able to print the confirmation page. Anyways, with the help of those vendors outside the USEM and the hefty tip at P 400, she was able to print one.

At around 6 am. I was getting worried because there were only two of us in the K1 line. I thought to myself that maybe this has something to do with the technical problems at all us embassy. When we finally line up inside those concrete barricades, i met at least 5 more K1 visa applicants.

Once inside, I just waited for like forever. I did:
step 1 ( pre screening and finger printing),
Step 2 ( Submit all papers documents , preliminary interview with the Filipino "consul"). Submit passport, birth certificate, nbi clearance, cenomar, 2014 income tax return and W2s, affidavit of support
Step 3 ( oath taking ). It was in step 4 ( American Consul interview) that I waited for at least 2 hours there were only like 5 of them interviewing.

Then came my turn for step 4.
First Question. How did you meet your fiance?
2nd Question. What do you like about your fiance?
3rd Question. Do you have any pictures together?

While i was answering those questions, he was looking at all the paper documents on this red folder/file.

Then he said, "Seems like you have all the necessary documents and I am satisfied with the way you answer all those questions. Congratulations, your visa application has been approved. However, all us embassies are having some technical problems affecting our visa printing, you may have to wait for 2 to 3 weeks for your visa." Congratulations again." I smiled and thank him in return.

Then he handed me this pamphlet. " I am required to give this to you but i know for sure that you know what to do when these things happen because of your professional background ". I smiled.

Step 5. Releasing. They will verify the address where you want you visa/ passport to be delivered.

Experience is will be fine as long as all the necessary documents are present. My nbi, birth certificate and cenomar were all issued in June 2015 so that i would not have any problems. the affidavit of support was dated in june too. Pictures: I just should him atleast three photo papers where at least ten pictures were printed.

Thank God. Im almost done with this process. Hope you all get the most coveted " Congratulations, your application is approved" line. Good luck.
