I am writing this review for my husband Kevin. His interview was June 16th originally scheduled at 9:30am but thanks to VJ we found out that all London interviews were being rescheduled to 1pm. Thank goodness for this site because London never answered me back on the contact form when asked them to confirm this change nor did NVC know anything about the change. So all was fine, but had we not known he would of been keeping himself busy for hours.
He arrived early because an earlier train was available. Caught a taxi to the embassy and had a wander around because it was only about 11am at the time. He walked up to an employee and she told him to come back around 12:30. He thought the park was wonderful to have while waiting and there was plenty of options if you wanted to go to a Starbucks, etc close by. He noticed the original crowd had moved on and saw that there was a podium of such set up. No one was in a formed line yet, and then one person stood by the podium so he thought he would stand behind him and before you knew it an orderly line formed quickly. An employee came out shortly after and started checking peoples information and sending them through to the security screening. He went through security and into the reception area where he gave his paperwork and was assigned number I902 (which means he was second) he waited about ten minutes and his number was called. He describes the CO as very "Business Like" not very friendly like some have reported. He made no small talk or jokes. He was very serious about the job he was doing which was fine but a little "intense" feeling for Kevin because this is a very important decision that a total stranger gets to make for you. The only documents they wanted from him were the following:
1. His birth certificate
2. Police Certificate
3. Divorce paperwork
4. Our Marriage Certificate
5. The courier form
They were not interested in seeing any supporting documents such as our Skype logs, pictures, airline travel ticket receipts, or and this surprised me... Nothing about the I864 and the tax transcripts.
The CO asked him the following questions:
1. How did you meet and when?
2. Where did you meet?
3. Do you have any children together?
4. How often did we visit each other and when? When was the last visit?
5. What does your wife do for a living?
6. Why are you moving to America?
7. Have you made travel arrangements yet?
The last question transitioned into a discussion about the delay in printing visas. The CO did not give any guarantees, but told Kevin that he should be fine to make that flight on the 12th of July but to keep a watch on the embassy website for updates.
He then announced he was approved and told Kevin he was finished with his interview and could go. Kevin thanked him and was out in the park texting me the great news. His appointment was at 1pm and he was texting me 39 minutes later. So a very quick and efficient process. The atmosphere was nice, business like and well ran, but by no means it was not a "walk in the park" like feeling.
