**First off I advice you to at least give yourself ONE FULL WEEK to get your Medical Exams and other running around done before your actual Interview at the consulate. We were so excited to see that we got our invitation, it was on a Tuesday and when setting our appointment we saw that on that Friday they had open availability and also the following Tuesday (along with a few other options)... we fought the urge to book the Friday and booked Tuesday. This was a smart choice because you have to do a lot of running around:
-X-ray and Blood test
-Finger print and digital picture
-Medical exam
-pick up of results (a few days later)
-Visa Interview
** On Packet 3 instructions it states 6 VISA PICTURES total... In reality you need a TOTAL OF 8 (write full name of beneficiary on the back) and a digital copy also for the DS-160 Online form.
- 2 for X-Ray and Blood test
- 4 for Medical Exams
- 2 at Visa Interview
Our experience went really well.
-Appointment set to 7:30am
-Arrived at 6:30am to a huge line but luckily it's not a K1 visa line. So ask an employee and they will tell you to go to the shorter line (line #3)
-Make sure all your paperwork is in order (you will get the correct order with your packet 3)
-they will check your paperwork before you go in.
-Go through metal detector
-wait in a line to turn in your paperwork to an employee at the window
-they will tell you to wait till your name is called
-we waited about 1.5 hours
-I went up to the window with my fiancee as they interviewed her from behind a glass on a phone.
-Interview was about 5-10 mins (closer to 5 mins)
-Questions were asked like:
Basic information about yourself (name, birth date, nationality, birth place...)
Have you been to the US?
Have you been married?
Do you have children?
Basic questions about fiance
what's his/her occupation?
how we met?
what we plan to do in the US?
wedding plans?
It was very easy questions to answer...
After this she said "ok, you are APPROVED"
It should take about 2 weeks or less for you to pick up your visa.
** you choose the location of DHL pick up when you set your visa interview date... they give you a list of places around town. Just pick the closest one to you.
All in all it was a great experience with no mistakes made on either end! Just make sure you have all your paper work and make sure it is in order!
If you have any questions you want to ask me please feel free to write me, I know this whole process can be long and frustrating so I am very willing to help! GOOD LUCK!!
