I had my interview on 5/13 in Montreal. This morning, 5/15, my status changed to Issued - what a wonderful feeling.
Despite a 10am stated appointment time, my USC and I arrived at 6:30 am; there were already a few people in line.
By the time security unlocked the doors at 7:30, there had to be 20-25 of us outside.
I was given a laminated number outside (#2). She looked only at my letter and passport. ***anyone with a "knapsack", "satchel", "man bag", etc got TURNED AWAY - no exceptions.
We went through security and then downstairs. Sat by the elevator. At 8am they let the first batch of us go up. Almost immediately after the doors opened I was paged first ("#2 go to window #4"). Note that once upstairs I didn't have to claim a number as I'd been given one downstairs. Handed over all my originals one by one, including 1040 tax docs from my USC. Had a seat and then was paged to window #8 (I think). He basically went through all the documents, confirmed details (first marriage, intended address, etc). I was worried It was going to cause concern that we intended to move to a new U.S. address; it wasn't. He said we were provisionally approved pending nothing coming up on my fingerprints and sent us away with the welcome letter.
If I could give advice it would be to calm down - I twisted myself nearly into cramps over this, but it really is an administrative checkpoint. Good luck to everyone out there!
