Hi,
We arrived at the consulate around 6:15 a.m. It was me, my fiancé and his son. We went on a line that was designated for families with children and physically challenged individuals. They opened the doors around 7 p.m. to go through security. We only had our binder with required documents. No purses or cell phones. They gave us a number. At 7:30, they called us to the booth and collected our interview confirmation paper and something else (maybe DS-160 confirmation.) We sat back down and they called us up again at 8:30 to collect the rest of the required documents. We waited until 10:30 a.m. to have our number called again for our interview. We walked to the booth together as a family. She asked me why did I know Spanish. I told her that I was Puerto Rican. She asked me questions about how many times I came to visit. I told her 5 times and she said "wow, that's a lot of times". She asked me what we did and where did I stay when we visited, and I told her various places. She asked me if he knew my children and their ages. I told her yes and gave her information about them. She asked if they knew him or visited. I told her that they knew him and spoke to him using What's Ap and Skype, but due to costs, I couldn't bring here to visit. She asked me about his children. I explained why we were bringing one of the children with us now and another on a follow to join. I gave her the ages. I gave her information about his family, explaining how we spent time with them as well when I visited. She asked my fiancé similar questions about my children in Spanish. She asked their names, ages and grades they were in. He wasn't sure about the exact grades. She also asked him how did we get there on that day. He told her that we rented a car. She asked him who paid for it and she said that I did. She also asked to see additional pictures. We showed them to her. My fiancé also explained that one of the pictures was my sister and that she was also here visiting with us this week and came to support us and spend time with the family and that it was her 3rd time visiting him and spending time with him and the family.
It took about 5 minutes. She was very pleasant. She told us we were approved and handed us a paper informing us on how to check the status of our visa approval. Overall a good experience.
Thanking God!
