I had my interview on Wednesday 15th April at 9AM. I got to the embassy at around 8:15AM, at this point there two lines were really long and almost at the street. I asked a guy at the white tent a to which line I should stand in and he told me to come back at 8:35AM, I came back and was told which line to stand in, this line moved quickly and half way to the white tent a girl came round checking paperwork as I had a Immigrant appointment I was taken to the front and asked to stand in the much shorter line, everything moved quickly and I was in the security and out within minutes.
I got inside and was assigned I922, the waiting room was already really full and more and more people were coming in, staff inside were telling people to not block the door and to keep moving forward. I waited for about 30 minutes to be called to window 1 where I handed over my paperwork, had my finger printed captured and then was asked a few questions and was giving a CD with my chest x-rays.
I then took a seat (after one became available) I wanted about an hour and a half until my number was called again to go to window 15. I was greeted by a really nice lady, she asked me a few questions, how I met my US fiancé, questions about his family and what he did for a living, the lady then looked through the paperwork and gave me back my birth and police certificates.
The lady was ticking boxes and clicking things on the computer, within minutes she said I’m pleased to tell you you’ve been approved, congratulations and advised me that I would received my passport back within two weeks, with a big smile on her face.
I asked if I needed to do anything else and she said I was finished and could leave, I left and then texted my fiancé to let him know that we had been approved, as it was 4:18AM in California. It was a very easy process, very relaxed and very informal, a pleasant experience from start to finish.
