It seems most people stay in London the night before. In my case it was not possible. I woke at 2:30am as I could not sleep. I had prepped all my documentation in advance so I spent some time speaking with my fiance in skype. I left my Hertfordshire flat at 4:50am headed to ASDA to get some cash then took at taxie to the train station. The train ride and the tube ride took all of 35 minute or so. I stopped to get Coffee and walked the rest of the way. All in all the commute from went quickly. I was the first to arrive at the embassy and my appointment was set for 8:30am. I knew I would be very early but I felt better being there and then relaxing on a bench across the park. I asked my fiance to do a internet search to find a Coffee shop and I she found 2 within a couple of minutes walk on north Audley Drive. They were open so I spent time there.

The process went smoothly. As reported by others everyone was very polite and friendly. British Security joked some and the American workers were very friendly and efficient. For all the frustration of getting to this point I found this to be a pleasant and smooth operation. I got into the cue that I was directed to. At one point I went to a window where a man checked some more documents. He left the area a moment and returned with a my medical record. He said I would need it in America. Which I thought was interesting since I had not yet undergone the interview. When he was finished with me he said it would only be a couple of minutes before I would be called to the next window. Sure enough I was called with in two minutes and this time I spoke with a woman. She was also very pleasant. She asked how I met my fiance and When we had visited. I gave her dates and length of stays. I mentioned that I had traveled with my Mum so that they could meet. She asked how it went and I told her great. She asked about my fiances family and siblings. What her brother does for a living? Is he is married? I told her his marital status and names and ages of his children. Over all the questions were very easy. It felt vey conversational and not as if she was trying to make it hard. It felt like just natural chit chat and I was happy to say that it was all done in about 5 min or less. She let me know I was approved and that I would get my visa and other documents in 1.5 to 2 weeks. One thing she did ask was when I would be going to America? I told her Early May and she said that is good as my vacinations would be expiring Mid May. Come prepaired with all your evidence just in case but I was not asked to show any. However I would not take any chances and not have it either. Anyway... I wish you all the best.
