Review Topic: K1 Visa

My interview was on a Friday morning. After picking up my medical at Medisys as they opened at 7 am, my dad drove me down to the consulate. We arrived about 710 and there was no one else around. a couple people began to show up around 725 so I got out of the car and went to join them. Dad headed back to the hotel. I stood right where it was recommended on here to stand and it worked out beautifully. It seemed as if I was the only one who had any clue what I was doing, obviously thanks to VJ and the huge amount of advice and information I was able to get from the forums and other reviews here. about 735 the guard unlocked the door and allowed everyone who had gathered outside to come in to the foyer at once, I guess because it was cold and windy outside. The receptionist stood just inside the door checking names against her sheet of scheduled appointments. Then it was through security, fairly relaxed compared to airport security but a similar setup. The signs state not to bring your phone in along with a long list of other things, but the officer had no problem storing my phone for me, giving me a receipt to get it back on my way out. Downstairs and to my seat over by the elevator, and waited until pretty much exactly 8. was about the fifth one on the elevator but of course I went straight to the back left and faced the door. When we got to the top I was first out and to the desk and received #1!! (thanks VJ javascript:emoticon('')) When called up to window number 1 I handed in everything as I was asked for it, felt very prepared thanks to all the great advice I had gotten. Was able to instantly produce everything that was asked for! Was maybe 20 Min at the window and then was told to take a seat. Waited for 15-20 min then was called back to window #8. The officer conducting the interview was very friendly and the whole interview had a very relaxed feel to it, much to my appreciation! All that nervous worry for nothing! She asked very easy questions, such as where we met, how long we had been dating, what kind of wedding we were going to have, when the wedding was planned for, etc. nothing that a genuine applicant would have any trouble with!! Within a few minutes I heard those amazing words, "Well I am going to approve your visa today." and I received the famous "Welcome to the United States" letter!! Was never so happy to see a single piece of paper in my whole life!! It was almost unbelievable that this part of our journey was over!! Words cannot describe the feeling of relief that I felt, as all the pressure that had been building over the past months was instantly dissolved! I don't really recall much of what happened after that except before I knew it I was outside waiting for my ride and calling my fiance! I could not believe the time when I looked at my phone, 855 am!! Less than an hour from my elevator ride up! I was totally shocked, as I was planning on at minimum a couple hours! So thankful for all the amazing advice and help I received here on VJ, couldn't have done it without you guys!! Anxiously awaiting my POE now!! javascript:emoticon('')
