My interview was on 27th Feb at 7:30 AM. I reached embassy by 6:30. I thought I reached too early but there were already people standing opposite to embassy. At 6:50 person from embassy came over and asked immigrant visa applicants to form a queue and then we went to embassy. We were standing in queue just outside entrance into embassy. We were asked to take out passport and P4. CD or other electronic items are not allowed. We were asked to proceed inside. Our belongings were scanned at security check. Then we walked a bit to go inside kain building.
We were asked to form separate queue for single applicants. People from south were asked to form separate line. We were asked to arrange docs. After few minutes of waiting were given token number and first indian person interviewed me, tooks original docs and arranged them. Asked few questions
Where is your husband?
Are you working?
Did your husband come?
Confirmed address in US and gave me the domestic violence paper and asked to read as I wait to be interviewed by American consular officer.
I waited for about 30 min and my turn came up. The indian officer was also there to help if I don't understand (the American office was not speaking into mic so couple of times I could not hear what he was saying and indian lady repeated in mic). I was asked to agree that info that I give is correct by raising right hand. My fingerprints were taken. Just a few questions were asked.
What does your husband do?
Does he live alone?
Are you working?
Then said your visa is approved and said it will come in 1 week.i was given paper that says green card fee should be paid. He said to pay and then you can travel.
I was not asked to show any relationship evidence. I just showed original birth, marriage certificate, pcc.
I said thank you and left. It was good experience. :-)
