This was a K1 and two K2 visa's at the same time. We scheduled our appointment for 7:30am, and arrived at the embassy around 6am. Really there is no point to get there earlier than your scheduled time. We saw no significant wait time between us and the people that were at the front since 5am and those that arrived exactly on time. There were a number of full-blown immigration applicants that were ahead of us with their interview at 7am, and this seemed to slow the process because everyone we saw taking the K1 interviews only lasted about 5 minutes on average, while those ahead of us getting interviewed for actual immigrant visas took upwards of 20 mins.
The "greeters" (guides that walk around and direct you from point A to point B) will speak in Tagalog pretty much the entire time, so if you go with your fiancee be prepared for that. Their instructions can be muffled as well a lot of the time, to the point even my fiancee went 'Huh?' more than once, but luckily everything is VERY clearly labeled in the hall about which step is #1, #2, #3, etc.
As for the process, the Filipino Pre-Screener that looks over your documents seems to actually take the most amount of time with you. I think we spent a total of about 10-15 minutes with her and she went through ALL of our paperwork and asked the most amount of questions. As for us, I am 35 and my fiancee is 30, so when it came to our turn they didnt ask the kids anything, and they just asked us where we met and where we will stay. Pictures, tax forms, etc were NOT requested from the American Consul (we think that the pre-screener probably wrote notes on our file stating she covered it). We did, however, notice that those foreigners that had a significant age gap were asked to have a seat after a few initial questions with the American Consul (they all passed, regardless).
So, interview was schedule for 7:30am, and we were approved and out of there at 10:10am.
