Hello, I was approved today at the Montreal Consulate and I wanted to tell everyone about my experience. First off, even though I am from Montreal, I got lost getting there. The consulate is not super easy to find. If you are taking the metro/subway, stop at Square Victoria and get out at exit de la gauchetière. Google map gave me the longest way (not surprised!). I only recognized the building when I saw already 10 people lined up close to the building. I arrived around 7:40ish and got in right away.

Once you're in, there is a lady that will ask you your DS-160 confirmation page as well if you are registered with LOOMIS. I saw at least two people being turned away for not having it. Then the security tells you to wait for your turn at the security screening. Once it's your turn, you need to remove your jacket and everything in your jacket. I saw a couple of women with purses even though it CLEARLY said NO BAGS! They weren't turned away but it took longer at the security check because the security man had to thoroughly look in the bag. Anyway, then the man asked me if I had a belt or a watch, I didn't so he let me through. All good here. The man who screened me was really nice. He even said have a nice day. (Maybe I was lucky?)

Then you have to wait in a room downstairs close to an elevator. I waiting at least 15-30 minutes before an officer came and allowed us to go in the elevator. FYI sit close to the elevator because the door will open on the other side and you will be first in line (THANKS TO THE PERSON WHO INFORMED US ON VJ!!)

I wasn't first in line but was number 1 for the K1 VISA. The lady at the desk first gave me a white paper with my number and all docs that I needed to have ready (Passport, 2 pictures, confirmation, medical forms from Medysis). Then I sat down to go through my papers and I was called to booth 1 in like 5 minutes so I rushed there but couldn't find the booth because it was hidden completely on the left side! LOL So anyway when I get to the booth, the man asked me for all my papers. Luckily I made photocopies of everything because he asked me. Original birth certificate with a photocopy, passport and photocopy of the first page, police certificate, affidavit of support with tax forms, medical). So after sorting everything out, it took me at least 10 minutes there, he told me to go sit down and wait for my number to be called.

5 minutes later, I was called again for the actual interview. The man acted serious at the beginning, but then throughout the interview he was pulling out jokes. He was actually very nice and told me my case was the most solid case during his whole week and was happy that it wasn't complicated at all. He asked me a few questions like how we met, how long have we been dating, what my fiance does, how many times have we seen each other, if I've been in the U.S. before, if I've been married before (NOPE). After probably 5 minutes, he said welcome to the United States and that I will receive my VISA in two weeks.

The process was super long from the petition to the consulate interview (BTW I booked the interview in December and my interview was today February 6!), but the actual interview is a few minutes. If you have nothing to hide and you have clear and concise answers (and always say the truth), you will be approved.

Super happy

Thanks everyone for your help!!
