Okay. Just like everyone else who interviewed in Santo Domingo my experience was very similar. We arrived at 4:45 am and there was a line with at least 25 people in it. There was many people offering assistance but these people do not work for the embassy. However you may find there services for things like use of computer and printer very useful if you run into a situation like we did. But anyway, they opened the doors around 7:00. If you interview is scheduled for 6:45 you be let in after people with children and or wheelchairs. Then you will go thru a metal detector, walking thru a huge yard and enter another door where you will get a ticket with a number, similar to the ones you get at the DMV in the US. There are many windows so the numbers get called quickly. We was number 147 and was called at about 9:00. We submitted the DS160, medical papers and birth certificate of my fiancé. They ask nothing from me. Our problem occurred at this time because we did not have a DS160 for her son. And since he will be traveling with her it was necessary. So the officer at the window gave us several options, one being talk with the people outside and complete the DS160 then come back inside with the receipt. She gave us a re-entry pass and in 10 minutes we was back with what we needed for the cost of $100. This is a very good business for the people hanging around outside. The guy told us that he gets 5 and 6 people a day, everyday for this. Wow! After we submitted the DS160 we was handed a paper about domestic violence then told to look out for our number on the screen. Twenty minutes later we was called to a new window with a new lady and that's when the interview begin. First we was sworn in. Then the questions started with me. Where did you meet? When did you meet? How did you meet? Do the friend who introduced you do this for many Dominicans? How many times have you been to DR? What other countries have you visited? Do you know anyone in DR? Do you have any family in DR? Then to my fiancé.... How many times have he been to DR? How did you meet him? Do he know your son? Then back to me... Where do her son live? Why do he live with her mother? Where do her mother live? and how far? Have you ever met her mother? Do she only have one child? Then to my fiancé.... How many times have he met your son? Do you have pictures with him and your son? (We removed about 10 from a book but after seeing only 2 she said ok. She asked for my fiancé's birth certificate then said your visa have been approved.
