Ok, I had my interview today and was approved! Everyone was lovely and it went so smoothly.

I got there just after 7 and was about 4 people into the line. Getting there early REALLY pays off because when they began letting people in I was about 5th into the embassy and I was the 2nd I09 (immigrant) visa interviewee number of the day. They did make separate lines for those pre/post 8am slots but said immigrant visas could go in the pre 8am line.

That meant that as soon as they called people up to the desks for the first admin-y stage (just before 8am) I was seen super quickly. The (British) guy was very friendly, he had my whole file in front of him and chatted away. After fingerprints and document collection I was all done. I remember sitting down and looking out the window and seeing the now HUGE queue outside the embassy, it really is worthwhile getting there early.

After about 40mins I was the first I- number to be called for the 2nd stage interview. The woman interviewing me was very friendly but professional. She asked me only a couple of brief questions before she approved me and really didn't seem to have any doubts as to our relationship. She seemed to be checking out future jobs/income.

Q: how did you meet your fiancee?
-I gave her a brief description, which made her laugh.

Q: Will you practice law once you move out there? (i've just graduated from law school)
-I said probably not as law school is another 4 years! she didn't ask me what else I would do.

Q: Is your fiancee a lawyer?
-No. Explained his business. She seemed very satisfied with this, gave a smile and a nod and said

"Ok well just a couple of stuff I need to check and then we are all ready to wrap this up for you"

She then just asked me about a previous lost passport.

Then she said we were approved, with a big smile!

It honestly took about 10mins, if that.

I was out by 9am!!

If you are prepared and haven't done anything wrong then you'll be fine!
