Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

We got to the consulate at about 5:40am (cita was at 6:45). Los buscones are outside, and they walk around as if they own the joint and tell you that if you don't have your papers stapled they won't take it. LIES! You don't need them. I saw they told a lot of people to form another line (don't listen), they ended up in the back cause when the actual employees came out separated the lines by time and type of visa. Needless to say, the people got mad.
Don't take any lotion, makeup, any metal, no umbrellas or weapon look alike and no cell phone. I saw plenty of people with their watches. So watches are ok to bring inside a dog course your purse.

Got through metal detectors fine. Got number 139. They started to call for the documents (it went by order). We were called to window 11, to submit the civil paper work (we were expedited). They asked stuff that was in the form i130, so make sure you review it. Then to window 1 for fingerprints. Then we sat down and waited to be called by the same number for the interview. They called out random numbers, so be alert.

We were finally called to window 19, a blonde, short hair lady was there (mid to late 50s) she looked mean and serious. Made us swear. Told us she will be interviewing me in English.

She asked me:
When and how did you meet? (I said through a church trip) she checked my passport to see the entry.
What church do you go to?
What church does he go to?
What kind? (Christian)
Where do you work?
How do you get to work?
Has he met your parents?
Do you have siblings?
Has he met them?
What is his phone number?
How many kids do you want?

To Him:

Where does she work?
How does she get there?
What is her phone number? (He said he honestly doesn't have it memorized)
What is her date of birth?
Where was she born?
How many kids do you want?

Congratulations visa approved, have a good trip!

I was in shock like what did you say? He was shaking me saying OMG OMG lol

All my paper work was in the clear. I expedited my case even when I was encouraged not to because I wouldn't be approved. I did it anyway believing God wanted nothing but the best for us. Has been a crazy journey but God has been molding us to trust and rely on only Him regardless of the facts and what people may say! To Him I give glory and we made it because of Him!

Thank You Andrelisa, you have kept me sane. Not only did this process help bring my husband to NY, but I have gained a friend. A sister. Love you girl!

Thank you Noelia, Mari and Philip for hearing me vent and giving me advise and always giving an encouraging word. Also, to all the VJ crew girls. You ladies rock! Is great to have a support system. Love u all!
