Process for waiting to be interviewed was somewhat uncomfortable. We arrived at 5:30AM, to find a line 1 block long. In addition, despite the numbers being handed out, those numbers have no relevance on how a person is called (at least not to those in the waiting room). For those who have never been through the process, the wait to be called is very disconcerting. You will be called 3 or 4 times (but no one tells you this). Needless to say, it is very relieving to know your visa is approved. No one tells you either how long it will be to actually receive your passport back in order to buy your plane ticket. One more item of note, If you live anywhere else on the island besides Santo Domingo, the wait is even worse, especially if you have to visit the consulate in person for documents never recieved, for information never clearly stated on the documents they provide you. My wife (now), had to go to the consulate twice, because of a lack of information and poor postal system. This caused her to have to take two days off from work which at the time caused some problems. All in all, I rate the experience a 3.
