My interview was on August 5th, 2014. I arrived at the consulate about 6:30 (way to early) they open the Consulate door at 7:30, I was first in line and people began lining up around 7:00. Several people had large bags and cellphones, and were told that they will not be admitted in the building. Make sure you have only necessities. I only had my huge folder, a little purse with my house keys and my bus pass.
You need the Loomis confirmation printed, your appointment email and your passport on hand. They will check printouts and your passport before you’re even let through security. You go through security and you go downstairs to wait for 8:00 and they let you in the elevator. Make sure you are first to enter the elavator; the door opens in the other side at the 19th floor, and you can get your number right away for the interview (first come first served).
I got #1 and I was called after 5 minutes to window #1.
The woman was very friendly. She took everything I prepared , originals of my birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorced certificates and the copy of my passport biographic page, police report, the original I-864 and supporting tax documents, and then returned the xrays to me. She took my fingerprints, confirmed our addresses. Then, she instructed me to take a seat once more, and that I would be called by number for the interview itself.
Took another 15 minutes of waiting for the interview and I was called to window #7.
The lady was friendly, while her computer was restarting, I read the oath (though she didn’t have my raise my hand), and she looked over my paperwork, comparing the originals to the copies I submitted, and then returned the original birth certificate and marriage certificate. She asked me how long I was married, how I met my husband , how long we dated, how many times he was married before me, how many kids he has, how many kids I have, when was my divorce final, where he lives and what kind of work he does, how often we see each other, all the countries I lived and for how long, how long I am in Canada, are my kids will want to move to the USA, have I ever been convicted. Then she gave me the Welcome letter to the USA and she told me to be earlier at the airport for POE. She mentioned the computer glitch and it could be a delay in printing the visa to wait 2 weeks max. I left at 8:45 and got home checked the CEAC site and it said Visa Issued. I am waiting to get my visa on hand. Overall the interview was easy.
