BRING A BOOK! Also... it's really damn warm in that place!
The wait time was horrendous! Gah! I made sure I arrived early - they open at ~7:45 AM, and I got there around 8:10. There was a small line up outide, then when I got upstairs it was packed. I sat and stared at the wall for hours, but made friends with some other people applying for their K1 Visa at least.
I was first called up to a window to hand in some paperwork. Background check, medical, affidavit of support, d160 page, and they took my fingerprints. I asked the lady if they wanted proof that my fiance owns his house, and the lady shrugged and said "If you wanna give it in, sure."
I was sent to sit back down, and waited for another.. hour and a half? I was the last person left in the building, but I wad called up and a polite man asked how I was. Took my fingerprints again, asked me to read a statement and then asked a couple questions.
When did you meet your fiance? How did you meet? When did you meet for the first time? When was the last time you saw each other? How long are the typical visits? What does he do down there? Where does he live? Congratulations, you have been approved!
When he asked me when we met, I said in 1999, and he raised his eyebrow at me, "So you were both... minors then?" I laughed and told him we were just talking online about cartoons still and it wasn't that weird... right? Haha.
Anyway, I got there no later than 8:15, then got back to my hotel (Travelodge about a 5 minute walk from consulate) around 1:30. It was a long, emotionally draining day. But out of everything we did, it was probably the easiest.
