I would like to share my visa interview experience today, June 10, 2014. I arrived at Us Embassy Manila, 430am for my 615am appointment, by 945am im done.
They let us enter the US embassy at past 6am. We were told to prepare the first page of the appointment letter and passport. Next step is to proceed to security check like in the airports, then another security check at the main building.
The first step is the biometrics, 2nd step was Filipino Consul , 3rd step American consul then the 4th step is just to let you know if there are still documents needed to submit.. if none .. they will return to you your appointment letter page 1 and will instruct you to proceed to To Go Courier window for the delivery of your visa.
The Filipino consul who interviewed me was a lil bit strict, strict in the sense that if she gave an instruction, you should follow her, but in the documents she just get my passport old and new, NBi and cenomar, asked my age, and how long have been married. Then after that she remind me to prepare my Baptismal Certificate and form 137 of elementary and highschool because as she said my Birth Certificate is Late registered and also she told me to prepare my valid ID’s as well for my next interview…
The American Consul is a woman, my first impression to her is that she is kind.. the questions asked were:
Who is your petitioner?
How and when did you meet?
Employment of Petitioner?
What is your occupation?
After these questions she looked a lil bit confused, she asked help of other people there inside the booth.. they were all looking at me closely then they will look at the screen of the computer… and then I started already to feel nervous because they were already 3 filipina staff who are looking to me closely from the window and then they will look at the computer.. im not sure if they were staff or officer… that’s why I asked the American woman consul if there was a problem, and she said there seemed to have a problem.. then they let me look sideways, left and right and look downward… OMG I was really nervous already…. And then after maybe 10minutes that they were talking to each other, the American woman consul finally type something in her computer and turned on the mike and talked to me again… she apologized for the delay.. she said she approved my CR1 visa to IR1. It was a big relief when I heard she said that. I think I had a resemblance with someone that has a bad record or something.
Here are my tips when you go to your visa interview.. eat heavy breakfast, prepare updated documents, be ready for the long waiting time, relax so you will not forget the important dates or facts about your marriage.
