Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiancé just got home from his interview and he said it was all very easy. He overheard several other K1 interviews and they were all approved, even though some were missing documentation. He said he was asked a few of the same questions we've seen on VJ:

-When's the last time you met? Any pictures from that visit?
-How did you first meet?
-When and where are you getting married? (interestingly, the consul's sister also got married in SF City Hall)
-When do you plan to travel to the US?

I think there were some others, but they were all standard questions we've seen before. Nothing tricky. My fiancé said that all of the staff members, both Filipino and American, were quite nice from start to finish. The final American consul even said, "Yours is the simplest case I've had all day." And the visa was approved!

Follow the K1 guidelines on this site. They work. Check and double check. You don't need to overkill it on the documentation of your relationship. We had about a dozen printed pictures, and I printed out our Facebook history together (all of our tagged posts, pictures, check-ins, etc). I also printed out our last 6 months or so of facebook message history, but they didn't even look at it. By this point in the process, it seems clear that the only thing they're going to reject you for is not meeting the financial requirements. Make sure you get the bank letters, statements, pay stubs, w2, 1040, and employer letter. Go heavy on the financial documentation and you'll be fine.

We're so lucky to be approved so quickly...60 days from NOA1 to Approval. Woohoo!

Good luck, everyone!
