Tips posted from other reviews that were really helpful:
1-I didn't take a purse and they sent me to the front of the line because I was purse free. Instead we took a duffle bag with our snacks, pictures, evidence, and my fiance took it in. The men's line goes way faster than the woman's line
2-Arrived at 600 am. Some people were there since 430 am. It doesn't make a difference.
3-Jewerly wasn't an issue, but kept it to a minimal (watch, earrings, necklace)
4-sat by the cafeteria (fans kept it cool)
They began letting us in at 630 am. Line moved quickly. We went to the first two windows by 745 am. We were out by 930am and shocked at how quickly it all went.
Consular officer swore us both in. He spoke okay spanish and was much better at English. He spoke to me most of the time. He first asked if we had any pictures? We took photo collages I had made for every visit (walmart). We had a total of 7 of them. I pulled out my binder and offered to show him our skype/video chat photos and he said it wasn't necessary. He asked how many times I had visited my fiance (in english)? I said with this trip in May it would be 7 and that I had my ticket for June so that would make 8 trips. He then asked me where I work (in english)? He then asked my fiance where I work (in spanish)? He asked him what type of teacher I was (in spanish)? He wanted my fiance to specifically state that I was a special education teacher who taught kids living with disabilities. He then asked me when was the last time my fiance lived with the mother of his children (in English) (Never expected this question)? He asked me if I was ready to accept two children that I didn't give birth too (in English)(Never expected this question)? He asked us for the children's birth certificates. We told him we had called the $7 phone number and they told us we didn't need them since we weren't planning on taking them with us within 11 months. He then asked so you have come to visit him a total of 4 times right (in English)(I believe he did this intentionally to see my reaction)? I answered him genuinely thinking he made an honest mistake and repeated that it was my 7th time and that in June it would be 8 times. He had my fiance write my name and sign his signature on the DS 156K (make sure you take this and give it to the person that calls you to the first window with all your documentation. She didn't ask for it and I asked her if we needed it. She replied, "Oh yes! I'm sorry I forgot to ask you for it.) After my fiance signed the officer said here is your green ticket to go pay DOMEX. I would like you guys to mail in both children's birth certificates. I asked him if we were approved and he said technically yes. I have no doubts your relationship is real. It is obvious. He jokingly said unless you would like me to further investigate your fiance to see if he is an imposter. I quickly replied no it's okay. However, I would like the birth certificates as evidence that the children exist. I asked how long it would take to finalize our process. He said under our circumstances it isn't somthing that is time consuming and shouldn't take long at all. It just depends on the day they receive our paperwork from Domex and how much work they have that day. He told me not to worry that everything would be okay. We were super happy but shocked and disappointed at the same time. Happy because we just celebrated our 10 month anniversary and were "technically approved". Shocked that the process and interview went by quickly. Disappointed because we both have worked so hard to get everything ready. We had two binders full of evidence (didn't ask to see it) and called/emailed to avoid missing anything and at the end we were two simple documents short (if you put children on the I129 F take the legalized copy of the extensa birth certificate to avoid delays).
We called Domex today and they notified us that the documents would be delivered to the consulate this afternoon. I will let you know how long it takes, but feel confident that it won't be long Good luck everyone and best wishes!
