My appointment was scheduled to be at 10:30am, I arrived to the embassy at 9:45am and at the front window (before going through security) I had to give my name, show my passport and my 2 pivtures (visa style 5*5), there I was given a little green sticker I wore on my coat and was sent in, to security check.
I went throught a scanner (machine-thingy) similar to the ones at the airport, had to take off my coat cellphone and keys, after being checked I went in and at the second door (the one to the waiting area) another lady checked little green sticker, passport and pictures and advised me to go to window 3 or 4 and wait behind the yellow line.
I did as I was told and after a couple minutes I was called to window number 4, where a very nice Colombian lady took my passport and pictures and asked:
-Who's asking for you?
-What's the longest you've stayed in America with your tourist visa?
-Have you ever left Colombia?
Then she grabbed a folder with my name on it (and all the documents we sent since the USCIS stage) and gave me back all the forms we filled (except for the AOS) and told me to wait in the cafeteria to be called through the speaker. All this happened between 9:45am and 10:15am.
After doing some waiting, having a cup of coffee, an overpriced juice and an extremely overpriced empanada at 11:56 I was finally called to window number 2. I practically ran to the window managing to twist my ankle in the process but not falling down (Do NOT wear uncomfortable shoes! Learn from my mistakes!)I greeted the American lady in english, but she replied in spanish.
She asked me if everything I was about to say was true and I said yes.
Took my fingerprints and asked me the following questions (in spanish):
-Who's asking for you? My husband, Nelson
-How many times have you been in America? 4 times
-What's the longest you've stayed? 41 days
-Have you ever left Colombia? Yes (this can't be a serious question!)
-Have you ever stayed longer than 6 months in the US? No.
-Did live in the US? No.
-Is this the first marriage for both of you? Yes
-When was the last time he came to Colombia? October 2013
After I answered those questions she gave me a paper regarding domestic violence and gave me back the 92 pictures my husband sent to the USCIS and our original marriage certificate and said "congratulations, your visa has been approved. You'll receive information about retrieving for passport in 2 weeks."
I just slowly walked away and texted my husband letting him know the news.
TIMELINE:
09:45am: Arrival to the embassy
09:55am: Security
10:00am: Entered waiting area (directed to window 3 or 4)
10:10am: Told to wait to be called
11:56am: Walked to the window
12:03pm: Approved
